WALTON, Ky. (April 17, 2025) – Chet Hand, current Boone County commissioner, announced today his candidacy for Boone County Judge Executive in the 2026 primary election.

“I’m running because Boone County deserves bold, accountable leadership that puts people over politics,” said Hand. “As a commissioner, I’ve fought for transparency, conservative principles and fiscal responsibility. I will bring that same focus to the county-wide responsibility of the judge executive.”

Hand, a resident of southern Boone County, has been a vocal advocate for limiting government overreach and regulation, ensuring strategic and sustainable economic development and empowering residents to participate in their local government. Known for his independent voting record and grassroots approach, he has stood firm against what he describes as the creeping influence of bureaucracy and special interests.

During his time on the Fiscal Court, Hand has been the leading voice in ensuring that Boone County’s long-term land-use and transportation plans are transparent and viable for all community stakeholders and that regional agreements provide sufficient county autonomy. His record reflects a commitment to limited government, lower taxes and protecting Boone County’s unique character.

“My goal is simple: keep Boone County financially strong, economically prosperous—and a great place to live, work and raise our future generations,” Hand said.
