Where I Stand
Life
I believe that all life is to be protected, from conception to natural death.
Family
The family unit is the building block of all societies. The rights of parents in relation to their children’s upbringing, education, health, and moral development are paramount to a healthy, thriving society. I oppose any regulation or government intervention that interferes with those rights, and I support all efforts to increase the autonomy and independence of the family within our community.
2nd Amendment
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Our leaders have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the words “shall not be infringed” means. As a free people, I believe we should have zero regulation around the ownership, licensing, and carrying of personal firearms.
Constitution
The US Constitution is one of the most important documents ever written. The God-given opportunity to create our free Republic was no accident, and the language of our founding documents are key to the survival of our freedoms. I oppose any efforts to “modernize” or re-define our constitutional rights.
Fiscal Responsibility
Full transparency, regular audits, only fund critical elements of government and reduce taxes to put more money back in the pockets of the wage-earners in our County. People know best how to spend their hard-earned income. They don’t need the government taking it to spend on frivolous initiatives.
Development
As most citizens of Boone County can attest to, the lack of strategic infrastructure development in our county has a daily impact on the lives of our residents. The current administration and Fiscal Court seem to favor big-money out of state developers rather than the common person, allowing unmitigated development without the proper infrastructure in place to handle it. Development is a good thing, but it has to be done in a strategic way. Not sacrificing the safety or security of our early Boone County investors… us, the people.
Property Rights
Everyone should have the opportunity to invest in property, and manage that property as they see fit, within the appropriate zoning laws. I believe our current planning and zoning commission in Boone County has a fundamentally flawed understanding of these zoning laws, and are simply a rubber stamp for large, out-of-state corporate investors looking to buy up Boone County real estate.
Health Department
Along with most other functions, I believe that local control is in the best interest of Boone County residents. Anytime control is consolidated, such as with the Regional Health Department model currently in place, this removes our ability to manage and regulate an important community function that only has partial accountability to our voters. Boone County should have its own Health Department.
